The command bar

Open pages, search the web, jump to any tab and run commands from one box.

Open it

  • ⌘T opens the command bar for a new tab.
  • ⌘L opens it with the current page's address, so you can edit it.
  • Click the address box at the top of the sidebar.

Esc closes it.

What it finds

Type a few letters and the command bar shows, in one list:

  • Open tabs, pinned tabs and Favorites in every Space, so you can switch instead of opening a page twice
  • Archived tabs and pages from your history
  • Sites you visit often, completed as you type
  • Search suggestions from your search engine
  • Commands

Use ↑ and ↓ to move and ↩ to choose.

Commands

Commands run from the same box. Type part of the name, for example:

  • Settings…, Copy URL, Restore Last Closed Tab
  • Add Split View, Archive Tab, View Archive…
  • Go to "Space name" and Move Tab to "Space name"
  • Air Traffic Control and New Little Arc Window

Search engine and suggestions

The search engine is chosen per Profile in Settings ▸ Profiles ▸ Search engine: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo or Ecosia. Turn off Include search engine suggestions there if you do not want what you type sent to the search engine before you press ↩.
