# The command bar

> Open pages, search the web, jump to any tab and run commands from one box.

## Open it

- `⌘T` opens the command bar for a new tab.
- `⌘L` opens it with the current page's address, so you can edit it.
- Click the address box at the top of the sidebar.

`Esc` closes it.

## What it finds

Type a few letters and the command bar shows, in one list:

- Open tabs, pinned tabs and Favorites in every Space, so you can switch instead of opening a page twice
- Archived tabs and pages from your history
- Sites you visit often, completed as you type
- Search suggestions from your search engine
- Commands

Use `↑` and `↓` to move and `↩` to choose.

## Commands

Commands run from the same box. Type part of the name, for example:

- **Settings…**, **Copy URL**, **Restore Last Closed Tab**
- **Add Split View**, **Archive Tab**, **View Archive…**
- **Go to "Space name"** and **Move Tab to "Space name"**
- **Air Traffic Control** and **New Little Arc Window**

## Search engine and suggestions

The search engine is chosen per Profile in **Settings ▸ Profiles ▸ Search engine**: Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo or Ecosia. Turn off **Include search engine suggestions** there if you do not want what you type sent to the search engine before you press `↩`.
